Now this is a very non-traditional cheesecake recipe. It’s super macro friendly, but it does use pudding mix.

So, not only is this ice cream low in fat, but it’s high in protein too. For half a pint it packs 26g of protein.

A bowl with two scoops of cheesecake ice cream and a spoon on a light-colored plate, made using the Ninja Creami for that perfect texture.

Now looking at the ingredients you’ll see that this cheesecake ice cream recipe in fact doesn’t use cream cheese like a traditional cheesecake would.

Instead it uses cottage cheese and some sugar free cheesecake pudding mix for the flavorings.

This helps keep the fat content low and beefs up the protein content.

I also added some sliced strawberries to the base because I was planning on making this a strawberry cheesecake ice cream, but I didn’t want the strawberry flavor to be too over-powering.

A container filled with a creamy, white soft substance, resembling frosting or whipped cream, sits against a plain background, evoking the rich texture of a Strawberry Cheesecake crafted in the Ninja Creami.

You can pretty much add a scoop of unflavored protein powder to any recipe, as long as it’s a high quality protein powder. I’ve noticed the isolates tend to work better, but I haven’t tried every brand on the market yet. Depending on the fat content or lack of emulsifiers, you may just have to give it a re-spin or two for the best texture.

Be sure to prepare in advance. This recipe takes 18-24 hours to freeze. I like to plan ahead and make it before the weekend. This is when I always want an extra sweet treat.

Tools to make this easy recipe

  • Ninja Blender – I love my ninja blender. Not only can you use it for the obvious, like smoothies and shakes, but it also works perfectly for making the ice cream base!
  • Ninja Creami ice cream maker – I am in love with this Ninja Creami.
  • Ninja Creami Pints – I opted for these pints because they were about half the price, but be weary if you need them quickly; it took about three weeks to get here. They did have some prime options for other pint containers, but I was being thrifty.

How to make Strawberry Cheesecake Protein Ice Cream with your Ninja Creami

  1. Add all ingredients to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Next, transfer the mixture into the Ninja Creami pint and place the lid on.
  3. Transfer the pint to the freezer and freeze for at least 24 hours.
  4. After 24 hours, remove the lid and place the pint into the pint holder. Place the lid with the blade on top and lock it into place.
  5. Run the Ninja Creami on the ice cream function. Re-spin twice.
  6. Enjoy!

How to store

When freezing the ice cream pint, make sure the lid is on secured and it’s placed in the freezer on a flat surface. The ice cream should last 3 to 6 months in the freezer.

If you don’t eat all of the ice cream in one sitting, make sure to flatten the top of the ice cream, replace the lid and store in the freezer. When you’re ready to eat it again you will need to run it on the ice cream or lite ice cream function for 2 spins.
