Easy Homemade Guacamole
Guacamole combines creamy avocados, zesty lime, and fresh ingredients for a dip that’s always a hit. Perfect with chips, tacos, or as a topping, it’s a flavorful addition to any occasion. Quick, easy, and irresistibly delicious!

Guacamole
The first time I made guacamole, I thought, “How hard could it be?” Smash some avocados, toss in a few ingredients, and call it a day. But I quickly learned that the details matter. The ripeness of the avocados, the balance of lime juice, the crunch of onions, all of it plays a role in getting that perfect bite.
Now, I’ve got it down to a rhythm. I start with buttery avocados, mash them just enough to keep a little texture, and mix in fresh lime juice, diced onions, and tomatoes for a bright, refreshing kick. A pinch of salt ties it all together.
I’ve served it countless ways, piled onto tacos, spooned over burritos, or simply scooped up with crispy tortilla chips. No matter how it’s eaten, it never lasts long. There’s just something about that creamy, zesty mix that keeps people coming back for more.
Whether enjoyed as a snack or paired with your favorite dishes, guacamole adds a fresh, vibrant touch to every bite.

Ingredients
- Ripe avocados
- Roma tomatoes
- Jalapeño
- Lime, juiced
- Red onion
- Cilantro
- Black pepper and salt
Variations
I’ve played a round with so many versions of guacamole, and let me tell you, small tweaks make a big difference.
- Tomatoes. If you don’t have Roma tomatoes, try using cherry tomatoes. Trust me, I’ve done this before and it adds sweetness and nice balance to it.
- Onion. I am not a fan of red onions, so I tried using white onions for a milder taste and it works!
- Peppers. I swapped jalapeños for serrano peppers once, and let’s just say it was way more fiery. Perfect for spicy lovers like me.
- Mangoes. I was skeptical about adding mango, but the slight sweetness actually made the guacamole even better and tastier. For a change!

How to cook Guacamole
- Cut the avocados in half, remove and discard the skin and pit. Put the avocado in a bowl, set aside.
- Dice your tomatoes and onion, set aside.
- Chop the jalapeno and cilantro, set aside.
- Cut the lime in half, set aside.
- Mash the avocado with a fork until smooth.
- Add the diced tomatoes, diced onion, chopped jalapeno, chopped cilantro, juice of the lime and season with salt and pepper. Mix until well combined.

Cooking Time and Temperature
Guacamole is a no-cook recipe, making it incredibly quick and easy to prepare with no heat required.
- Prep Time: 10-15 minutes to mash the avocados and mix in fresh ingredients like lime juice, onions, and seasonings.
- Temperature: Serve guacamole chilled or at room temperature for the best flavor and texture.

What to serve with Guacamole
Guacamole is incredibly versatile and enhances a variety of dishes. Serve it with tortilla chips, tacos, fajitas, or grilled meats like Chicken Breast on the Blackstone and Blackstone Steak for a savory, satisfying meal.
It also pairs well with fresh salads, roasted vegetables, or grilled potatoes, adding a creamy, zesty flavor to each bite.
For beverages, Cranberry Lime Mocktail, iced tea, or sparkling water work perfectly to balance its richness. Guacamole can even be enjoyed with Sugared Cranberries and fresh fruit like pineapple, mango, or apple slices, creating a delightful contrast between creamy and sweet.
Whether as a dip, topping, or side, it never fails to elevate any meal.

How to store
To store guacamole, place it in an airtight container to prevent air from reaching the surface and causing browning. Cover the guacamole with a layer of plastic wrap, pressing it directly onto the surface of the dip to minimize exposure to air.
For added freshness, you can also place a few slices of lime or lemon on top before sealing the container. Store it in the refrigerator for up to 1-2 days.
If the guacamole turns brown, simply stir it to redistribute the flavors. To preserve it longer, consider freezing it, though the texture may change slightly after thawing.

Learn From Us
I have a fair share of guacamole mishaps, and hopefully you won’t have to. Here is what I’ve learned.
- Picking the right avocados. You’ll end up with a chunky, bland guacamole if the avocados are too firm (unripe). If it’s too soft (over ripe), it will turn into a mushy mess.
- Jalapeños vary in heat. I learned to taste-test them first before adding too much, one batch nearly set my mouth on fire! Even spicy lovers will approve.
- I mashed everything together once and I regretted it. Now, I gently fold in diced tomatoes and onions at the end so they stay crisp.
